About our podcast guest, Dr. Jeffery Katz

Dr. Jeffery Katz is a professor of Psychology at Auburn University. His area of study is animal cognition and has worked on projects involving avian and canine cognition. I will admit Dr. Katz was not our first choice for a guest for the podcast. We wanted to have someone on who has a background more focused on the psychological connection between food and memory specifically. Since the topic was so specific, there were few professors who fit the criteria. The ones we did reach out to were unfortunately too busy to join us. Then I remembered Dr. Katz. I had him as a professor for my Orientation to Psychology course. I remembered he had always been helpful and enthusiastic to work with students on projects. He had actually encouraged me to participate in a lab over the summer that I throughly enjoyed. The lab involved playing with dogs for hours, so what was there not to like? While I was no longer his student, not even a Psychology major, I hoped he would be willing to come speak. He responded back with an excited yes and even came dressed as Spock from Star Trek for our Halloween day recording.

Dr. Katz is invaluable resource to all students of Auburn University and encourages environments of learning and growth. You can find out more about his research on his laboratory website: https://cla.auburn.edu/AUCCL/
